But I'm irritated and I like telling stories and would rather do it here instead of on my facebook. At least people make the choice to read what I write here instead of having to see it on my facebook.

Anyway, let me tell you a little story. When I was 21, I moved out of my mother's and in with my friend into an apartment in Echo Park. I was still drinking. So I frequently made bad decisions. Like the time I had a friend over. And we stayed up all night. All while my 26 year old roommate was sleeping in the room next to mine. We made a lot of noise. And she had to get up at 6am for work. Well apparently in the middle of the night her room felt like it was shaking. She got up and started to walk to my door and see if I had awoken from this earthquake as well. But as she got closer, she realized I was awake. And there was no earthquake. It was me and the "friend" in my room, getting busy. She then referred to him as 6.0. Anyway, the reason for this story is that she told me all of this. And I didn't think it was weird that she was calling me out on it. I was mortified that she had heard. I apologized. And probably laughed a bunch. But she said it was ok. She was embarrassed as well and just left for work early that day and got ready there. I didn't make it a regular thing. Although, because I drank, I don't remember if that's true or not.

So, today, it's 5 years later. I'm a little older. I don't drink. I make better decisions. Sorta. Well, while sitting in my kitchen with my friend who spent the night last night, (no, nothing happened) we were eating waffles, talking, laughing not being quiet. It was obvious we were home and sitting in there, that's the point I'm getting at it. And it was 2pm. We started hearing noises. And I stopped talking. And to my surprise it was my 20 year old roommate having sex with her boyfriend. Awesome. Not really. I don't want to hear that. That's gross. Those are things I like to pretend don't happen between some people. So when my friend (who was equally embarrassed) left, I texted my roommate to tell her that we had been in the kitchen for the last hour. She said "that's nice." That was not the response I was looking for. So I said "So you don't think it's weird that we just heard you having really loud sex?" And she replied "I think it's weird that you're calling me out on it". I said "well that's fine, It's still really inappropriate and inconsiderate" And she actually told me that she didn't know we were in the kitchen and that we could have gone into another room if I had a problem with it. I don't think that's the correct response to such a situation. A simple "Oh, god! I'm sorry. I didn't know you guys were in there!" And I would have replied, "that's cool. Just check next time." And all would have been cool. No weirdness. But no, now I'm irritated. And do you know what her facebook status update is now? "Can't wait for September." Now, that's either a dig at me, because the lease is up. Or that's when she's planning on going on vacation. Which I don't think so, because who moves and goes on vacation the same month?

So my moral to the story is, don't be a dick.

Responsibilities...

when you grow up... there are things you don't want to do but you have to do them, so you do them. I love vegan food. I love eating out. I'm always very skeptical of eating out though. I don't trust people. And please do not take this the wrong way, but things get lost in translation. It's just how it is. I don't think that people are purposefully trying to mislead vegans or trick them, I just think they are misinformed as to what being vegan is. Or it's the packaging of the products they receive. Well, after reading this blog QuarryGirl.com I feel like I should have trusted my instincts. 1 of these places is really upsetting to me, considering I know the owner and the staff are all great people. But I honestly think it has to do with where they get their ingredients, not them. I love this place. And I'll probably still go here when I'm in town. I'm not a big fan of fake fish, so I'm not missing out here.
Green Leaves however, every time I've gone there, I've gotten a stomach ache. I'd get the chick'n sandwich with "vegan" cheese and avocado. And every time, I'd leave with a terrible knot in my stomach. I thought it was the wheat gluten. Well, now when I get that awful pain, I know, never go back. This place knows what they're doing. And I'd never go back there anyway.
Real Food Daily was tested as well, and of course, they tested negative for everything. Right on.
These 17 "VEGAN" restaurants were tested for Casein, Egg, and Shellfish by the way. This blog is a good read and I'd recommend reading all of it.

Quarry Girl.com

Take care, and listen to your insides when eating out. People that say they're from (insert major city here) when they're actually from (insert city 45-60min away).

I live in Quincy, MA. That's about 15-20 from anywhere in Boston. I say I live in Boston to people that don't know. To people that do, I live in Quincy.

Well, I hear it sooooo much more from people talking about Los Angeles. Just because it's LA county, doesn't mean you are from LA. I'm sorry. I grew up on Bronson and Franklin. I AM from LA. Maybe that makes me elitist, but I'm sorry.

Before I moved, I lived in Burbank. Burbank is directly over the hill from Hollywood. It's like 15 min away. I still said I lived in Los Angeles to those that don't know.

LA is made up of I'd say, and I couldn't find any data to make myself up, mostly people not born in LA. Actually "When it comes to cities, Los Angeles claims 41 percent of its population - or 1.5 million - come from another country. "

I don't have any more to say at the moment. Going to go back to listening to some good music.

Hey kids!

So how awesome is this?! I got a message today from a consignment boutique in NY wanting to sell my things in their store! I'm pretty stoked. We'll see how it turns out. But this is the first time someone has sought me out.

Also, there are 2 stores here that I've been meaning to set up a meeting with to talk about them carrying my jewelry in also. It's a matter of not wanting to be turned down, that makes me procrastinate in doing so. :(

Also, I'd really like to make it back to California in July. There are several bands coming through that I would love to see. Makes my little heart skip a beat thinking about seeing them. We'll see how that goes. Looks doubtful.

I went out yesterday with my friend, who also just moved to Massachusetts from Los Angeles, and we went and had Thai food from My Thai in Chinatown. yum yum. Connie was excited about getting some thai food. While she was gushing about what she was going to eat (bbq chicken), I pointed out they don't have that there. She said "WHAT?! What do you mean? Of course they do. All Thai places do." And I said, "um, wanna bet?" With a huge grin. "They don't serve meat at all there." She instantly looked heart broken. Like she was thinking "fucking asshole tricked me into going to some hippie place to eat" Well, she was pleasantly surprised that it was tasty. We walked a lot. (I was going to insert "wicked" somewhere in there, but I refuse to submit to that.) Anyway, we had Tealux, well I had Tealux. I really do love me some tea. And then later we went to the park for some fried dough only to realize it was gone and we were shit outta luck. So, we went for a walk around the park. Saw a hot dude and I smiled. I really do need some damn male attention. I'm lonely over here. Geeze. Then I casually suggested we walked back towards the T in hopes we'd see my pierced dreamboat somewhere over there. False.

Speaking of dreamboats. There are a lot of red heads here. I'm in red head heaven here. Geeze. **replaying note from self dated a few months ago: "Note to self, next boyfriend will be a red head." end transmission** Looks promising. Maybe I'll like it here if I go meet some sexy boys. Hmm... show tomorrow at All Asia.... maybe I'll meet some men there.

Know-it-all's, NOT-INTO-THEM.

Not being able to vent about things openly on my facebook and myspace has made me want to burst at the seems. There are lurkers everywhere waiting for me to say something they can repeat. So here's my only outlet.

We learn things. All the time. Starts at birth. We learn to walk, talk, read, write, have our own opinions, pick up our toys, say please and thank you, be helpful, be courteous, help others in need, fix things, grow things, to not say anything if you don't have anything nice to say, not be rude, listen to people, be respectful, etc.

So where does that all go when we grow up? How do we forget about these things?! Respecting other people's belief's. Cleaning up after yourself. Not being rude about it when asked to. Not saying anything if you don't have anything nice to say. Listening to other people's feelings because they are just as valid as your own, regardless of how stupid you think they are. Helping to clean up the table when someone has just made breakfast/lunch/dinner. Or reading people's actions.

I know, if something's wrong, say something. Don't be that dumb, annoying person that says everything's fine, when everything isn't fine. But when you say what's wrong and the person walks away because they think you're being ridiculous... Doesn't really make you want to open up all that much.

Is it not possible to have a happy medium between people? Can't you say "hey, I'm having a really hard time with everything that's going on. I need some space. You can't be doing everything for me." Why do I then feel abandoned? Left COMPLETELY ALONE.

I know. I seem crazy. And all these things that I talk about... no one else sees them. It's as if, when no one is around, we don't speak. But the second someone is around, I'm being spoken to again. Knowing I talk about what's going on. As if to cover the tracks. Now I really do sound just cryptic and crazy.

Well, this turned into an intense post. I guess I should end it here.

Oh! But wait, I will add one more intense thing.

Awhile back, while looking through my CD's I found the CD I had burned of a mix tape my friend Ian sent me in 2004, right because his death. Well, I made a myspace music page of this tape. Well, his daughter's mother's sister contacted me through there. She had all these great pictures of him and of his daughter that she wanted to tag of him. His daughter, Sophie, is 8 years old now. And she really is beautiful. And it made me so damn sad. I know exactly how she will feel over the years, as she gets older, as she realizes more and more what happened. And misses him and longs for him to be in her life. Dreaming that it wasn't true. That her mother was just protecting her from a life she didn't want for her. But knowing, it's true.... he's gone. She'll never know him.

If you are reading this blog for the first time and don't know me, well then here's a little background. My dad died when I was 5 years old. He was told to leave when I was 3. He did drugs. And that's what eventually killed him, here in Boston. Maybe that's why I'm here. I'm afraid though, if I stay here as long as he did, I may give up also.

Well, Sophie, Ian's daughter was 3 years old when he passed away. Drugs are what got him also. It's such crap that some how, even though I don't do drugs, and I barely knew my dad, I can't seem to date someone without a drug problem. It's as if the ones that don't use, are boring. As if I crave the problems and the heartache.

2 years ago I lost another friend, Chuck, to drugs. Chuck had been sober off and on. And I had met him after Ian had passed away. So when he started using again, I told him I couldn't be around that. I couldn't stand the pain again. And we stopped talking. In '07 we started talking again. He died in Oct shortly after that. I was crushed of course....

g'night friends... now that I've rehashed all these awful feelings it's time for bed. I've already had a rough evening of crying on the phone with my mom.

xoxo

p.s. I love you too Ian, I didn't get to tell you that enough. I love you and miss you so damn much that it kills me inside....

Drug Free

Ok, so many of you know I don't drink. It's been over 2 years now. So for those of you that don't know me, here's a little explanation on the bottle cap magnets on my etsy site.
I don't drink. I'm not 100% sure whether the beers that those bottle caps came from, is vegan. I did not drink those beers. My roommate did. And he saves the bottle caps for me. He tries to watch what goes into his body as well. But I don't know if he's gone as far as looking into what is in those beers. ie gelatin/fish bladders and such. I can't think of the word at the moment. isinglass! that's what it's called.
So, I'm not condoning drinking or drinking non-vegan beers at all. I like the images on the bottle caps. Hell, I don't even know the names of the beers they came from.
So if you have a problem with it, well then, I'm sorry.

A Few Updates For You...

Now that I start to type, I forgot what I wanted to update everyone on, so I'll start... oh I remember now.

A few weeks ago I posted a blog about a hunting club ordering buttons from me. Well, I finally decided I couldn't just donate the money, it would come off as me being spiteful and I didn't want to be a jerk. So I declined the order with this lovely email:

Dear ***,

I know I have not handled this well, and I apologize for that. I am still out of town. While in WA my grandfather passed away and I had to stay longer. And with all that happening everything else fell to the waste side, along with getting back to you. With that said, I've given it a lot of thought, and I'm sure you were confused by my last question. The reason I ask, was because I didn't want to jump to conclusions as to what these were for. I mean no disrespect to you or your organization, but I don't feel like I can go against my beliefs on this one. I would of course make buttons for you, just not an organization of hunters. I really wish I had replied to you sooner to tell you this, but with all this going on in my family, like I said, it got pushed aside so I could care for my family and mourn my grandfather's death.
I'm really sorry, and I mean to disrespect to you or your beliefs. I really hope you understand this. I cant stress it enough how sorry I am that I didn't handle this better. Feel free to use the artwork I re-did for you. And I'd love to recommend you to someone else in California. She's done buttons for people I know out there and she does t-shirts and stickers as well. You can visit her website at http://www.angrygirl.org/ They're in Tarzana, CA.
In regards to your check, I can mail it back or put it through the shredder. I have not cashed it. Just let me know what you'd like me to do.

Sincerely,
Jenny Stench

********************************

As a business letter, I think I handled this really well, other than taking too damn long to tell him all of this.

Here was his reply:

Hi Jenny,

Please mail the check back to me for accountabliity.

There are a lot of people in this world that enjoy the shooting sports. It is the shooters that contribute more money to animal conservation and preservation that any other group in the world. Take example ducks.........if it was not for Ducks Unlimited that purchased land and worked with the government to protect the breading grounds through the sales of duck stamps and ammunitions sales why we still have a duck population today.

Please............I do not want you to make the buttons for us and just want you to return the check.

********************************************

What a weird reply, don't you think? He didn't seem to really read my email or even care about what I was trying to get across to him.

Grandpa.... and my vacation

I'm not sure if I mentioned, but I've been out of town since the 1st of April. I first went to LA to hang with friends and go to my best friend's wedding. I booked my next flight late, so I had to wait 'til the 13th to leave LA and head to Portland to see my grandfather. When I called my uncle, I was informed that my Grandfather had been in the hospital for the last week and a half.
I got into Portland Monday night and my wonderful friend, Brian over at Scapegoat Tattoo picked me up and we went out to eat at the By and By. (Not sure how it's spelled or anything, I mean,I could look it up, but I don't feel like it.)
Anyway, I had a vegan meatball sub and collard greens. It was scrumptious. Next we went to Voo Doo Donuts and I had my first vegan doughnut. And I couldn't tell you when the last time I actually had a doughnut was. Maybe, 5 years ago. This one was a jelly filled man with a chocolate glaze. Oh man.... so good.
Then we went back to his place and passed out. In the morning, we walked over to SweetPea Baking Company and had some lunch/breakfast. I had the UnChicken salad Sandwich, which of course was fantastic and had lots of mustard on it. It was made of TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein).
While waiting for my uncle to pick me up, I went over to Food Fight Grocery to buy some essentials I didn't bring with me and then my uncle arrived with his wife.
From there we went straight to the hospital in Clackamas, OR. I'm going to to have to skip a bunch of stuff, because I don't have much time, and I don't want to cry all over my computer and in the middle of this starbucks.
We sat with my grandpa for a few hours. My uncle, Bruce, his wife, Mary, my grandpa's wife, Ann, and her friend Pam, were all there holding his hands and talking to him in between his naps.
This was Tuesday. After the hospital, we went back to Bruce's and I stayed the night there. Wednesday we woke up, had oatmeal, and went on over the hospital where we met Ann and her friend Pam, who were already there. This was at 11:30am. We ended up staying until about 6:30pm. During which, grandpa's friend, Bernie stopped by and shortly after the Pastor of his church and his wife showed up.
Most may know, I'm not religious. I don't believe. But, I bit my tongue and held hands respectively while the Pastor said some words.
That morning, Grandpa decided he had had enough of the tubes and such. He asked to be taken off them and didn't want anymore pain medication. We convinced him, he should be comfortable and agreed to the morphine and also requested some anxiety medication for his nerves.
We had planned on coming back this morning to get a picture of his tattoos so I had a reference to draw from, and also to get a picture of me and him, in his navy uniform, at his request.
We left the hospital and went back to Ann's (I had decided to stay with her because she wasn't sleeping much and I wanted to make her dinner). Bruce and Mary ended up coming over also. I made my famous tomato sauce with chunks of squash, zucchini, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, green bell peppers and garlic over angel hair pasta. I also made some garlic bread to go with it.
After dinner, I had homemade cookies ready to be scarfed. They didn't last long and today the last one was finished off.
At 10:21pm, the phone rang. Ann had finally gotten to sleep and everyone was resting trying to get the food settled because we all seemed to eat too much.
I answered, and it was the hospital. I thought it was some billing of something. I said I was Wally's granddaughter and the woman on the other line, with out warning, says, I've been trying to get a hold of you to inform you that you grandfather passed away about 30 minutes ago. With a gasp, I said hold on and handed the phone to my his wife, Ann. Which of course, went about the same and she handed the phone to Bruce.
I sat crying with Ann for a bit. And then immediately got up and called his friend Bernie, before it got too late, so that he wasn't surprised when he arrived at the hospital in the morning. He then called the Pastor and the church phone tree was alerted.
Today, my duties involved writing and Obituary, calling his last living relatives and Navy buddies. I got to call Haysi, VA, where he's from and spoke to his cousin, Virginia (yes, Virginia in Virginia) for about 30 minutes. And she couldn't have been nicer. She said so many wonderful things about my grandfather, Johnnie (goes by Johnnie back in VA and KY, but goes by Wally, here in WA). That's when it hit me. I've been in a daze and crying off and on since then. That's about 5 hours now.
I'm planing on going out to meet them soon as well. I sorta feel like I should just go straight there from here, so that I can save on a flight.
All I want to do at this point in crawl in bed and play on the internet, talk to friends about nothing, and watch drew carey episodes. But alas, the internet over at Battle Ground Mobile Home Park is not letting me connect.
So I walked down the street to Starbucks and am sitting here crying in public. Anything is better than crying in front of loved ones that will want to hug me and try to make me feel better. I just have to have time for myself right now, so heal, and think. But, of course, Starbucks doesn't stay open all night, and I'm being kicked out so they can begin the clean up and go home.
Tomorrow, I will have to be sending the obituary and probably call his cousin again to ask some questions.
Thanks for listening, it's time to pee, before my walk home in Battle Ground.... ugh....

They're Heeeere!

How excited am I?! I agreed to do buttons for a group of people, without asking what they were about. Why would I? Well, once I got the check in the mail, I got suspicious as to what it is they do. I did some sluething and it seems to me, they are a group of people that hunt. I have yet to make these buttons. And I'm working up the courage to say something. Because I can't morally do these for them.

A friend, however, suggested I make the buttons, and donate the money to a charity in their name, and mail them the receipt.

Suggestions?

Crazy

Ok so it's been awhile since my last post about being overwhelmed. You all probably thought I had lost my mind or something. Well, here I am. I survived the move. I'm living in Quincy now. It's been pretty cold here with the exception of 2 or 3 days that were nice. Nice being about 50 degrees.

So here's what's been going on. I've been pretty busy here with buttons lately.
Just in the last two weeks I've gotten a lot of orders. Here's what I've had to do:
Joe's Garage - 1,000
Pussy Cow - 200
Roots and Razors - 100
SFVISBF - 50
Johnny - 200
Fix My Head - 100 (rush order)
Naw Dude - 400
Wicked Crafts - 100
And another order for 1,000 from Joe's Garage

and I think that's it. The first order for Joe's Garage was a rush order and it turned out they sent the wrong artwork and had to order another 1,000. Awesome for me. Not for them.

On the home front, we've been baking a lot here. I made some bread, and Jeremy made some Irish Bread that is to die for. I baked some new cookies, adding a chunck of orange chocolate to the center so it's creamy and delicious inside. Provocative.

There's a rad show coming up that my friend Ben Bornstein has put together, called Boston Rules, Ok? It's two days of incredible bands. I, unfortunately will be back in LA for a wedding. And hopefully make some money for rent. I'll be bringing my tooth bling kit if any of you would like to get your bling on. It's $40.
I will have someone at the show selling buttons for me though. And there will be beer magnets as well. Stop by and pick up a flyer and order some custom 1" buttons from me.

And from LA I'm heading to Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA to visit my Gramps. He's pretty sick and not making much sense anymore apparently. :(

I think that's it. I can't think of anything else to report on just yet.

Adorable

overwhelmed

I am moving in 2 days. I am being pulled in 30 different directions. Being told I need to see this person and that person and yet, I am the one moving and packing and trying to fit my life into 6 suitcases. There are a handful of people I would love to see before I leave. But unless these people just show up at my house, I doubt it will happen. I have listed several different events that people can come to and see me.
I have made a list of things I have to do before leaving. And I don't think I should be made to feel bad about not being able to fit other things in. I am also sharing this time with someone on vacation, so I have to do what he wants as well.
My brain, my body, my soul, can not take this non-stop, always on the go business. I need to stop and rest and melt into a chair and watch mind numbing TV. Sorry if that should not be on a list of things to do. But I feel like I'm getting sick, and that's just how it's going to be.
And why does it have to be me that does the calling? Can people not pick up a phone and call me. I hate calling people. It gives me wicked ajida.

On my list of things I need to do:

See Laura/Josh/Aedan
Lunch with Grandma and Cousin
Take Jeremy to get tattooed
Wash Jeep
Sell Jeep at Carmax
Give James and his gf Tooth Bling
Wash Hair
Go to Whitney's (bc her car is non-functioning)
Make my Jeep stop smelling awful
Clean dining room
Pack boxes to mail
Mail Boxes
Order Printer to be shipped to Boston
Find a place to put shoes I love in my suitcases that are already full
Go through suitcases and figure out what I don't need to bring
Last going away thing at the Little Cave in Highland Park on Wednesday
Wash clothes
Meditate

And these all need to be completed tonight and tomorrow.

But, tomorrow consists of:
Leaving at 10am to have lunch with Grandma at 11am
Jeremy has a tattoo appt at 1pm
who knows how long that will take. I am also getting tattooed.
Come home and get ready for last night in town shin dig.

UGH.... I am so frustrated right now.

AND on top the things I need to do, I would love to do these things:
See Danielle
Have lunch with Jennifer
Hang out with Whitney
Hang out with Michelle
Post the pictures from today's adventures

sewing machine!

As you know, I'm moving to Boston Feb 26th. Since I'm flying there, I wont be able to bring a lot of treasured items, such as my printer, artwork, sewing machine, etc. So, I've been looking on craigslist for free sewing machines and printers in the Boston area.

Well, I happened upon an amazing find. A FREE 1940's Singer Sewing machine. It comes in a cabinet and came with a bench. After a week of emailing back and forth with the woman, I had my friend in Boston, go pick it up for me. The picture she had sent me, did not do it justice. This beautiful machine is amazing. Jeremy got it home and without even saying anything about it, he cleaned and polished it.

I'm so excited to get to my new home and use it. I'll post pictures when I get there!

xoxo,
jenny.

New Items on Etsy

New items listed today! Yay!

Well, here's the thing, we need someone to test out the cold sore liniment. The problem is, neither one of us has ever had a cold sore. For the past week you go down for a few important seconds every few minutes. It's annoying. I don't like it. Please stop. Today, you've been real good about it. But when I needed you most. You let me down. I had a treasury. I was filling out the title. And what did you go and do? You crashed. You crashed and burned. It really hurt my feelings. Why would you go and do such a thing? I mean, I treat you well. Real well. I thought we were friends. But we're not. I'm breaking up with you. This is it. We're through. It's strictly work related now. No personal talk.

Not sincerely,
Jenny.

Dear People,
Could you please tell the internet that it wont get me down anymore because someone put one of my new rings, that I posted today, in their treasury. Which makes me very happy. It almost makes up for the internet going down. But it still doesn't excuse her... no his... I used the recipe I talked about in previous posts. My friends have been making it so I've had it at there house several times. Enough times to know that mine tastes different than there's. What's up with that?

There are several things I'm doing differently. Firstly, I don't have a pizza stone. So I'm using a pizza pan. Secondly, I don't have cornmeal. So I'm using flour. And thirdly, the dough is not as wet as their's turns out. I did it exactly like the recipe.

Oh! And! It's rising like crazy! I think maybe I mixed it too much. Here are the step by step pictures. Other than me mixing the dough of course, because I had it all over my hands. I can't hold my camera like that!

So the last two pictures are from the first loaf I did. It takes no time at all to make.

Using a recipe that was published in the Dec/Jan '09 issue of Mother Earth News, it's a sinch to eat fresh bread every day. So go out and buy that issue. Because it's a shame to live without it.

Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day!

Handmadeology.com

So..... you learn something new everyday. It's true. I've known about tracking your websites to see who's lurking and such. But Handmadeology.com has spelled it all out for me. The blog has a step by step video of how to install the google web analytics on your etsy page, which I would have never figured out on my own. And without the video, I'm sure it would have taken me longer than 7 minutes to figure it out.
On top of all the awesomeness that is Handmadeology.com, Timothy Adam is holding a contest on his blog for a chance to win ad space on his blog. Awesome!
So you to his blogs, especially if you have an etsy page, because it may just get you lots of sales!!

xoxo,
jenny.

Hiking Adventures

I, Jenny Stench, went hiking today. I went hiking yesterday. AND I went hiking last Sunday. I love hiking. It's a new thing for me. Being all... what's the word... active! Well, I guess, not really.

I've gotta figure out the name of the trail we did today and yesterday. I can't seem to remember. So much fun! Yesterday's trail sucked ass though. What a rip off. Not that we paid any money to take this trail, but seriously a waste of time. It was a lot of shitty scenery and paved road along with man made dam's and way too many fucking people. Ok, granted, the waterfall at the end was gorgeous. But come on... couldn't they have left it alone on the way and made the whole thing more natural?? And what's up with all the frickin' houses?!? Tons of them on this trail. A few here and there is sweet. I'd live in one. But there was whole damn community up there!
UPDATE: I figured out which trail this was. It was the trail to Sturtevant Falls, although, I googled it and the description seems dead on, I could be wrong. I did not bring my camera so I don't have pictures of the beautiful waterfall. But, the link shows pictures of it.

So enough with the negativity, just wanted to warn all of you of this trail I can't remember the name of. Anyway, today's trail was beautiful. It was all up hill and on the way there were tons of patches of snow. Laura and I saw large paw prints in the snow. I mean large. No dog did that. And the view was breath taking. We could see the ocean. We were in the mountains behind La Canada. This trail was, I believe, off Mt Wilson/Red Box Rd.

Here are some photos from today's hike:

DSC_1145 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1110 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1106 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1033 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1018 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1028 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_1145 copy
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

Last Sunday, the day after my birthday party, we went for a hike up to Millard Falls. This was a really easy hike, but by far the most beautiful so far. There was a waterfall at the end of this one as well. So we say by it and ate our lunch and basked in it's beauty. Thank you nature.

Here are some photos from this hike:

<span style="font-size: 0.9em; There was this guy that showed up with the second band to play. He walked up to me and my friends, smoothly, and introduced himself. He already seemed a little drunk. An hour later, he introduced himself again to me. This time a little more drunk. After a conversation with a friend about how this is the guy that sits in the corner ready to pounce on any girl that looks at him. While I was walking in back into the house, I walked right by him and decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. It didn't work. He gave me a dirty look and walked away. I thought it was pretty funny though.

So as the evening progresses, this guy gets worse. He's making out with two girls all night. AND he thinks he's driving home at this point. No way. I'm not going to be responsible for that. So I made him stay. Which in turn I'm pretty sure gave him a bad idea of what was going to happen. So he slyly puts his arm around me and says something, I can't remember. But it made me say, "I'm not going to sleep with you though." He was totally taking aback from this statement. I think it was probably the first time anyone has said this to him.

Then, his band mate had been standing there for this moment and was also totally weirded out that I said that. I don't get why that's a weird thing to say. I didn't want him to think that by me saying he should stay was me telling him he should "stay". Get it?

So, my point is, what's wrong with being straight-forward?

Party

So the party was nice. Some good friends showed up. And oddly enough, a lot of people that said they'd be there were no shows. Such a bummer. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the people that did come, but since I'm moving, I'm surprised that more of my friends weren't there. A lot of strangers were here this year also. And the cops came. Which totally bummed me out.

To top it all off some girl took charge and waited for the cops to leave to come back in to the party, alert us all that the band was going to play now and for all of us to be quiet... WTF? Seriously? I stood there totally confused and watched her walk away. After regaining my thoughts I walked over and grabbed her arm, I'm not sure why, but I felt it the best way to get her attention. As time goes by I want to punch her in the face more and more.

So while telling her no, I get pulled aside and somehow with his bullshit talk, convinces me to let them play. And now, once again, as time goes by, I get more and more annoyed at the fact that he made that party about his band playing, when it was not. I'm so disappointed that I gave in to that. No one was going to care if they played or not. Seriously. And the ones that did care, I didn't even know! So who gives a fuck if they left. Okay, that's a little harsh. I like his band, I've liked their old band. But why do people have to be such dicks!?

On a good note, sort of, I made vegan mac and cheeze that was gobbled right up. On a bad note, I made vegan mac & cheeze that was gobbled right up. I had one small serving. Also, I had made vegan chocolate chip cookies that some assholes that it would a good idea to put dog biscuits in to trick my drunk friends. They wasted half the fucking container of dog treats. Who were these people? It makes me glad I'm leaving.

Anyway, the last few days I've been staying at my friends house, a few days is an understatement. I've been here since Dec. 17th. A few days I've left, but for the most part I've been here playing with my friends. If you were at the party early, you saw them there. It was the guy and the girl with the 5 year old son.

Okay, I'm done ranting. So here are some photos:

DSC_0776
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_0785
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_0789
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

DSC_0790
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

MichelleNi003
Originally uploaded by punkrockpurses

38 min

Party "starts" in 38 minutes. We'll see who actually shows at 8. I got one call from my friends getting the address and directions, they'll be here at 8 for sure because they have a small child. Then I get a call from my Hubby asking what time it starts and then said he and Gavin will be there at 10... arriving fashionably late. Of course.

Alright, I'm freezing, so I need to go inside now.

I have a video camera, so I'll be taking video of the festivities for those that can't make it. So when I went out to Boston I gave him his gifts and he gave me mine. He did a pretty good job, I might say.

The first present I opened was pajamas. Red, Robots, Footsie pajamas. Yes, you read that right. You know the kind. The kind kids wear! So frickin' awesome!!! I also got all three seasons of Arrested Development! Love that show!! After that was a bag of goodies! Vegan items from the store LUSH. Patchouli perfume, patchouli body scrub, Vanilla Frosting cup cake lip balm, and some lotion.
We had a limit of $40 to spend on each other. He went over. Obviously. Jerk.
All my gifts to him were hand made, except for one. I got him the Jaws DVD, which he's watched too many times to count now, since Thanksgiving. I also made him a picture frame with pictures of Woody Guthrie around it, and he's got insomnia so I made him some medicine balls for it. It has feverfew, valerian root and some other herbs. They're pretty similar to the Headache Handys.

Oh! And he made me a red velvet cake in case he wouldn't see me on my birthday. It melted. How you melt a cake is puzzling to me... but he managed to do it. Guy needs to listen to someone who actually bakes quite a bit.

So on X-Mas day I went over to Whitney's parent's house. I do this every year. Desiree, her mom made lots of vegan options for me. Twice baked potatoes with vegan cheese, meatless meatballs, stuffing, and then of course the usual, collard greens and green beans. I was so full afterwards I couldn't stand it.
Our X-Mas was on a diet this year, so we kept it simple with the gifts. I got Whitney a DVD, Sideways. I know, weird. But she asked for it. And she got me a little take-out box filled with goodies. Tiny bottles of Balsamic Vinegrette, Oil, a candle, a tiny chocolate, soap, and something else. I can't remember right now. Anyway, cute gift. Her theme was "keep the party going."

I got my mom the Wicked Soundtrack and a Wizard of Oz figurine of the Tin Man. And I got Desiree a book about the Wizard of Oz.

Ok, now I must go take a shower. I'll post pictures later.

New Items for the New Year

I just posted some new items on the Laura & Jenny Etsy page. So here they are.

happing shopping. I don't know about you, but I hate taking pills for headaches or medicines for colds. So here's your alternative, vegans. Obviously not all vegans are into herbal remedies, but if you are, then these are perfect for you.

The Headache Handy's are made with Valerian Root, Chamomile, Basil, Cocoa Powder, Molasses, Peanut Butter and coated in a hard chocolate shell. Yum! So dee-lish. These ones are for adults only because of the Valerian Root. We also have ones with out it! Those are for children and sensative adults.

The marshmallow lozenges are for kids and adults! Like little bits of hard candy, these are great tasting and great for you! When you put them in your mouth you think, "yum! chocolate cough drops!" but then you realize that there's more flavor inside. The cocoa powder is just the coating to keep them from sticking together in the little box.

And speaking of boxes. All boxes should be re-used. They say they're for decorative purposes only, but since we line them with all natural, recyclable wax paper, they're okay. So if you can't think of what to use them for, here are some ideas:
For Kids: treasure box, micro machines, dress-up jewelry, little ninjas, homies or other small action figures. You could turn it in to a chair for Barbie, etc.
For Adults: If you're like me, you have a lot of chap stick all over the house, collect them all together and keep them in the box next to the door, now you'll never leave the house with out one! You could put a baby food jar in it and fill it with water and use it as a decorative vase. Put your jewelry in it. Keep your bobbins in it, so they don't roll all over the place in your sewing box. Etc.

Now lets talk about the jars if you buy salves or tinctures. We are offering you $2 off your next purchase if you send them back to us. Yes, that's right. If you've got no purpose for them after the stuff is all gone, we'll take them back if you want. Or you can try your hand at making your own remedies at home and re-use them. Either way, it's a great way to recycle.

Also, speaking of tinctures, we had two listed and they were bought up 3 days after listing them. I listed them at $6 each. Well, that was stupid. Laura had actually made these, and I didn't know what it took to make them. After reading about how to make them on my drive to a certain amusement park, I realized I should up the price. Well, by the time I could get to a computer and do that, they were gone. So when Laura gets back we'll have to discuss how much to charge.

We have Cold Sore Liniment, made from pomegranate rind and water, that is not listed yet. I'm trying to figure out how much to put in each bottle and where to get these said bottles. Also, I'd like to find someone to test this out on. I don't get cold sores and I can't think of who does. And it's a pretty weird question to ask someone, "Hey, do you get cold sores?" I don't know, just doesn't roll of the tongue well. Even though they're pretty common. So if you get them and you're local, let me know.

Ok, I think that's it for now. I need to go to the post office today. I hope it's open.... stupid new years eve. In case you didn't know. I hate new years. So I'll be spending it with Whitney and Moya sitting around watching movies.

Moving

So in case you all don't know, I'm moving to Boston. And it hurts when he climbs on top of you.
Anyways, this was just a ploy to get people to go to the vegan etsy team blog and read the review on one of my fellow team mates, Angel Cat Beds.

This is exciting for me....

Okay, so, some of you know I make things. I like being crafty. Well, here is a list of links of people acknowledging my love for making things. I'm way excited to be mentioned in other people's blogs. It's crazy! Who would have though it. Not me.

My first mention was on the Resin Obsession blog:

I was then mentioned for making buttons for the Vegan Etsy Team that I'm involved with: Vegan Etsy Team

While looking back at that last link I saw this other post mentioning us being listed in someone's treasury.

Here is the actual page with the treasury.

Because I'm a member of Cruelty Free Etsy, I was interviewed for the blog.

To visit my actual store, go to JennyStench.Etsy.com

I also have another store with my friend Laura at LauraNJenny.etsy.com

Dinner

I haven't posted in awhile, so I guess I'm trying to make up for it with all these in one night.

Dinner tonight consisted of Onions, mushrooms, yellow squash, garlic, and tomatoes on vermicelli pasts. And for a cheezy-ness factor I add nutritional yeast.

New future

On a side note, for those of you not in the know, and those I haven't seen in awhile, I'm moving. Moving on to a new location. Starting over.

In previous posts I've mentioned my trips to Boston and how much fun I had. Well, that's where I'm going. I'm going to have a basement!! Yay!!!

But I'm leaving behind my bestest friend! It'll be terrible without her. She's been awfully busy lately. And I don't know if it has to do with me telling her I'm moving or if it's because she's applying for colleges. She'll probably say the second one. But her calm reaction when I told her I was moving, was a little odd.

I'm moving in late January, so for those of you that are interested in seeing me off, there will most likely be a good-bye party on the 2nd or 3rd of January. It'll also be one last joint birthday party between Sam and I. So joins us at Casa de Stench.

Estelle will be coming with me to Boston btw.

I heart kitties

Everyone knows I love kitties. Well, I've had so many kitty companion animals, so many, that I couldn't tell you how many. I lived at the base of the Hollywood Hills for 10 years of my life. And it's no secret that coyotes and other wildlife live there as well. So I've lost a lot of kitties due to these wild creatures coming down, hungry.

These were the first 10 years of my life, so these animals, were unfortunately just pets, and I don't remember many of them. There was the cat with many names. So many, that I can only remember her first name, Fawn. But there were, like, 15 others.

There was another one, but I'm not sure if this was the one just mentioned. I feel like it wasn't in my life for very long. My grandma was visiting and we were going to go on a walk. I'm not sure why my grandma didn't protest on bringing my cat for the walk, but needless to say, the cat came with us, the indoor cat.... So when a dog barked she scratched me and ran off. I was rather young... We never saw the cat again.

The next one I remember was CoCo. This was some years later I believe. He was huge. Hugest cat I'd ever seen. We had him even through the move, when we moved to Burbank. He lived with us here for awhile, but soon lost interest and ran off. I swear he was living with the family down the street, but they deny that's my cat. If Coco is still alive, he's probably very old.

I've had others since Coco. When he was still around, my mom's co-worker/friend came upon a stray mother and her kittens. Apparently the mother had attacked someone in their apartment building was going to be taken in to be put down. He couldn't let this happen so he swooped in and took them all, and found them all homes. Emily and Spike were two of these kittens that came to live with us. Spike was all Gray and Emily was all Black. This is probably when Coco lost interest.

Emily then had kittens. 5 or 6 of them. All named after friends and crushes from camp at that time. I was 11 yrs old. Come on, give me a break.

The kittens wouldn't leave Emily alone. As kittens do, they want to feed off their mother. Emily couldn't be tied down to this! No sir! She didn't ask for any of this, so she bolted. A few weeks later, she was back. But the kittens still wanted milk. So she was out the door again. They were old enough to be okay with this and survived without her.

That's where Kenny came from, one of Emily's kittens. Our huge fluffy Kenny. He's old now. He's 13. And still angry and mean. And heavier than all hell and wants to be on everyone's lap.

At the age of 16 I found Falcon. A stray. I stole him from some tires in an alley while looking for new hubcaps for my... '62 Ford Falcon. He's all black. And stayed looking like a kitten for some time. Up until maybe 2 years ago. He's filled out and fluffier and meaner. He still runs from a room if someone walks in. Doesn't lick noses anymore either. That was how he woke me up in the morning for several years.

All through out the lives of Kenny and Falcon, Spike was sick. He had caught something at a boarding place while we were on vacation. And he never recovered. There were times when he was fine, just sneezed a lot. And times he'd come home with half his nose bloody from scratching at it all night. But through all this, he lived a very long life. Most of it I'd assume and very happy and full life living at our house and being a member of this family.

So when Spike passed, it broke my heart. I needed to fill that hole with a cat as wonderful as he was. He so dependent on my mother. He had a relationship with her like no other. Kenny and Falcon didn't care like that about us. Spike followed when you called him. He answered you when you asked him questions or spoke to him.

On July 25th I was at the store buying some glucosamine dog treats for Pickles, who is an elderly dog. When I saw her. The cutest white kitten. All by herself. White with two black spots on her eyes and a black tail. I put my finger to the cage and she came running over trying to get me to pet her... needless to say, she came home with me. She and her family were rescues and the rest of her family had been adopted. She'd been there for weeks all by herself.

Her name is Estelle. After Estelle Getty. She's incredibly adorable. Cuddles with me. Licks me. Cries when I leave a room. But she's sick.

My point of writing all this, is other than Spike, we've never had a sick kitty. And some how, Estelle got into something early on and gave her a bacterial infection. I thought it was gone. She was doing good the last few weeks. But this weekend, she got worse. Worse than before! She can't walk. She sleeps where I put her. She's having seizures. I can't even explain to her what's going on.

The bacterial infection spread to her brain. Causing her to spasm uncontrollably. She sleeps in my arms at night and all I can do is hold her tight when this happens. She's so damn cute. I'd do anything for her. She's turned into my Spike. Just like my mom had with him.

She looks at me like I'm her mother. She cries for me to hold her. She cries when she's hungry. And how I'm the only thing keeping her alive. He little kitten life depends on me to do everything for her.

She can't die...

Etsy Etsy Etsy!

This was reposted from my myspace blog...

Being happier lately has given me more confidence. Which is good. Going on dates has kept my mind of the reasons I should be sad, ie. losing my a grandmother I will never have the chance to know, and a certain someone changing their phone number and not replying to my message.

How is it, that simply saying, "Why are you being so weird and secretive?" can make someone not reply and ignore you forever? I don't think and explanation is too much to ask for. I'm taking a cue from another friend and being more honest. Being right up front with things. Saying how I feel. This time is backfired on me. I guess it just goes to show, he really was just a weird guy.

Also, is it too much to ask that I meet a guy who doesn't already know my friends? Or know an ex? It makes it sound like I've dated everyone when I really haven't. Serious. I know a lot more girls that have dated way more of my friends than I have.

On another note, Way back when, there was a problem at a job I had. A stupid jerk made my life hell. Told everyone there my business, made lots of people dislike me. Made me look and feel like a pretty terrible person. Was it because he was projecting? Trying to make others feel the way he did inside. Having such a terrible secret. A secret that would ruin him. Put him away for a very long time? People that do those kind of things, don't last very long in prison. Hopefully the next bit of news I hear about him, is that he's been seriously fucked up. Dead or in a coma. It makes me sick just thinking about it. Not because he fucked with me, but with those kids. The kids he said he was protecting from a terrible home life with their stripper/alcoholic mother. But now where do they go? Back to her? Where she'll date low life after low life, that will probably do the same things? I met him when the girls were 12 and 9. It apparently had started when they were 11 and 8. Never had I thought anything was wrong. I hung out with the girls. Was friends with them. It makes me sick. I can't stop thinking about how terrible the whole thing is....

Holy Crap!

Okay, so I've been working on my family tree some more lately and came across some famous people. Yeah I know. The show is about names and how they're judged even before meeting the person.
I don't understand. I'm constantly baffled by people's fears. I know people who are so paranoid about getting on a plane that has Muslims on it. I don't even think twice about it. Most of the time I don't even notice.
I can't even put to words about how I feel about the things these people are saying.
And what's with constantly saying Obama's middle name?! Very yum as always.

This semester I'll probably gain lots of weight because I've gone there almost every day this week and then had ice cream at scoops.... shame on me.

I have heart burn... but I think that's because of the mac and cheeze... since I like it spicy. This past month has been crazy!
First, Hybrid Roots emails me about 800 buttons, they were referred by Jamie Sol Black. Then, ACO needs 200 buttons. My friend Bree's boyfriend calls while I'm in Boston and orders 400 buttons. Next I get a call from an existing client for 1,000 buttons! And another existing client, from way back when I got started, writes and orders 100. My big brother James orders 200. That doesn't include the pending projects from people who haven't sent the artwork yet... Like Pop Levi, who wants to place an order before they go on tour. Also, two days ago, Hybrid Roots calls to add 200 more to their order, making it an even 1,000.

So today I finished the 1,000 for Hybrid Roots and almost completed the 100 for Wicked Crafts, but ran out of paper. I'm like 6 buttons short on the order.... lame.

Oh and I'm super excited that Dexter is coming to CBS..... other than it wont be as good with all the censoring.

Today for lunch/dinner I made Mac Daddy & Cheeze. YUMMM..... So delicious. I'll post a picture later. And I've lost interest in other certain websites.... I'm sure my lack of participation on these sites is obvious enough.

Friday is the funeral. My grandfather is being buried in a Catholic Cemetery. He's Mormon. So it's a little strange to all of us... even me, who could give a crap about organized religion.

It's 9:30pm and I'm ready for bed. I start school tomorrow. For some reason my water color class wont add because it says I haven't met the pre-requisits. Which I did the very first semester I started at LACC. And I wanted to take a film class..... and they were alllll boring.

Alright, I'm off to bed.

xoxo

Famous People in my family tree

Lucretia Rudolph Garfield (1832-1918)
First Lady
Lucretia Rudolph Garfield, wife of President James A. type='text'>Grandpa

Grandpa died yesterday, Jan 29, 2008 at 1pm.

Months ago, we were told he only had a month left. The last time I saw him he said goodbye and it was the worst thing in the world to hear my grandpa say "this is probably going to be the last time."

Friday we were told he had 24 hours. So I had been waiting for that call all weekend.

I'm sad that circumstances weren't different. That his wife wasn't so terrible. Hadn't driven a wedge between him and his family. As if she controlled every aspect of his life. She broke up his marriage. And then drove his kids away once again when he no longer knew what was going on anymore.

I bought three new dresses a few weeks ago.... knowing that not only were they cute black dresses, but that 1 of them would be the dress I'd wear to his funeral this month.

I reconciled with my grandmother on Monday. We spent all day together catching up and going over our family history. I'm Swiss, German and English.... but possibly Polish as well. I don't have the proof about the polish just a letter from a relative saying she "thinks" that someone was polish.

I missed an appt today because I'm so scatterbrained about all this. I got all the way there and realized I didn't know the address and had forgot my phone at home. Then had to sit in traffic for an hour to get back home, which should only take 15 minutes. All I could do was sit there, in my car, and cry, out of frustration.

I just don't know anymore.

I'm just so unhappy with life.

PUNK ROCK BOWLING '08

I won $100 at Roulette. And you all know me too well, when I say I want to live there.
I get back and people ask, "How was your trip? You wanna live there now, don't you?" I know, I always say that. On tour I said it after leaving Seattle, and after leaving Sacramento, and Berkeley. This is not always just because I love the city or the stuff that happened there.... but because of the people. I'm sad to say that I don't feel at home here in LA.
When I got to Boston, I couldn't stop laughing.
Before I left I had a couple of downer moments with some friends. Someone upset me with accusations. And on top of that, I was coming to Boston to visit my father's grave for the very first time. Talk about difficult.
So now on to the topic at hand. Boston. It was starting to snow when I got there. They were salting the roads to prepare for the storm that would come while we slept. When we woke up and the storm was over and everything was white and pristine.

Liz, Erin, and I went into town that Monday. It was cold, but not as cold as it was the last few days before I left. We started off going to H&M as if I don't have those here, but hey, each store is different. Then we went to TJMax so Erin could yell at them. Jerry met up with us there. I saw the cemetery where Sam Adam's is buried. And a little white dog prancing
through the snow,
the ice rink, and then we went to Newbury. I bought a Darkbuster CD, and Neverending Story.

We went home and a few friends came over and I didn't get to sleep til about 4am.
The next day Liz, Jerry and I went for pizza at TJ Scallywaggle's. A VEGAN pizza and sub restaurant! We had a barballow (Buffalo, BBQ) chicken pizza and a Chikhin Parmesan Sub. Jerry and I got wicked acidita (pronounced ah-ji-da, Italian for heartburn or upset stomach). I'm pretty sure it was because of the Tabasco.
Liz had class, so Jerry and I went to wholefoods to buy the ingredients for my famous chocolate chip cookies... they're like crack. I got the recipe from VegCooking.com

Then Jerry left for work and Liz, Erin, and I went to a bar. I met their friend Dave and Steve's girlfriend.... I can't remember her name 'cause I'm a jerk. I think it started with a "J". When we got home, Liz and I stayed up fairly late gossiping about stuff, that wouldn't YOU like to know. My dad was sort of a big deal. haha...
How do you pose in front of a grave?

After that we walked to 20 Pratt St. The house where my dad died.... It's a college area. We knocked on the door to tell them my dad died in one of their rooms, you know, to fuck with college kids and ask if they'd seen any ghosts lately. haha...

Then we headed to TJ Scallywaggle's for more vegan pizza. I got a meatball sub

and a Maggie's Spinacoli pizza with Sauhsage to go so I'd have food the next day.

Yumm... Erin had Chiken Nuggets and garlic bread.

That night we, well, I baked cookies and we watched a movie, Georgia Rule... hahaha... so bad.

Thursday Liz and I met up with Erin after her class and we went shopping at Victoria's Secret and some other store. Erin and I bought matching Betsey Johnson pajamas for $17. I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but animals sorta dig me. This Sea Lion was all about me.... he hung out at the glass for a few minutes checking us out.

And what did I say? Animals loooooove me.... This is Buttons... he's cute.

After that Liz and I went to her Film class and I pretended I was transferring there next semester. Ha...

After class we went to see Andrea Gillis perform.
The bar was in an old Hospital. When we left it was snowing.... and we had our fingers crossed that my flight would be delayed and I'd have to stay in Boston.

But instead of getting snowed in, my plane took off and I was off to Vegas.... But first I had to get to Albuquerque and get delayed there. Accept free vouchers to fly again and a hotel for the night. I really didn't want to leave Boston, so instead I was pissed that I was going to Vegas instead.

MORE PICTURES

Birthday!

This year was great. Met good people. It's great celebrating the beginning of a new year with a new age. My birthday is the 7th of January and well, today is my birthday. It's the second year in a row where Sam and I celebrated it together with one big party at my house with all our friends. Last year we had Bad Reaction and Blue Collar Special play. It was hella windy, but still held it outside in the driveway and patio area with my garage door open. And the bands played in my room.

This year because of the rain, we set up inside. There was vegan mac & cheeeeze, made from the Veganomicon book, the best damned potato salad in the world that my mom makes. A red velvet cake that Jen made, chocolate chip cookies, brownies (not vegan-booo!), nacho cheese (real, well, as real as nacho cheese can be), chips, and beer.

Lots of people showed up. People I hadn't seen in awhile. People I didn't know. People I see every day. People from school. It was great.

The band that played this year was Old Man Markley.

More Pictures

Last Night

Last night I went to Whitney's house for dinner. Her mom, Desiree made twice baked potatoes, collard greens, green beans, meatballs, & stuffing. ALL VEGAN. For the non-vegans she made meatballs, pasta, grits with cheese, twice baked potatoes with cheese and mayo, chicken wings, and um... I don't remember what else because it didn't apply to me. So it was like it wasn't there. And Auntie Hazel (I think it was her that brought them, she wasn't there when I got there) brought vegan cupcakes from Raw Food Daily. I'm grateful that I have friends and family who are supportive of my decisions. We all know people who aren't as lucky. Thankfully I'm not the only one who's vegan at these gatherings. Her grandfather is as well.

These people have been in my life since Kindergarten. Whitney and I met in Mrs. Leeland's classroom when we were 5. Whitney is not just a friend. She's family. We've grown up together. Her family is my family.

I did not have my camera there last night though. So I got no pictures. I know, stupid. But I've got pictures of the presents I received.
All I asked for from Whitney this year was perfume. Patchouli to be specific.... that's really hard to find apparently. So she got me incense.

And Desiree got me a neck pillow. I have trouble sleeping because I have a crappy bed and crappy pillows (pronounced pellows, thank you very much. Oh and I also say Soy Melk. I have a problem with 'I's.) So I slept with the pellow last night and I feel great.

Also, today I broke down and watched DreamGirls. I know I shouldn't have. But it makes me want to start an all girl group, like the Supremes. Oh Diana....
I just happen to be listening to Diana Ross right now.

Speaking of... it was an odd gathering at the Gordy house last night, since there were lots of cancellations due to the cold season. Chico wasn't there because he was back home with his family. And Cammy Cam was in RI working on a movie and being with his new girlfriend and new doggy... weird. Cameron was my crush in elementary. He is TJ's (Whitney's brother) best friend from Kindergarten or 1st grade. Neither was Uncle Harry, since he threw his back out. Which meant Granny Goose wasn't there either since Uncle Harry would have driven her here from Palm Desert.

But, we did have a new face last night. Kash was there last year, but he brought his good friend Mun from NY. He just moved here and didn't get to spend christmas with family, so we were his family this year.

After most people left, we put on Superbad. Sooooo good. I was slack-jawed most of the movie. After that we broke out the Guitar Hero. I rule by the way. It took 4 tries to finish Foghat. And 2 for Joan Jett. haha... I wish there were pictures of the evening. I'll never go without my camera again.

Christmas Day

It's Christmas Day.... I'm not really into Christmas though. This year there were no decorations, no tree, and not many presents. My mom and I just buy presents for each other all year round.... and I tend to buy presents for myself while trying to shop for others. yeah, I know, I suck. But, whatever. So, this year, I got a Nikon D40X Digital SLR camera. Love it! Two years ago, I got wasted and lost my 6month old ($500) camera in Vegas. I don't drink anymore. Next I got a new MacBookPro. Both these gifts I got earlier this month.
Earlier this month I went shopping online and bought the brand new vegan cookbook by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero. I'll be making some of the recipes out of this for my birthday party in a week and a half. On this same shopping spree I bought a bag from FoodFight! Grocery that is made of recycled bottles and has a cute drawing... well I'll just show you later.
Today, I opened my presents from my mom though:

-Gilmore Girls Series boxset! That's Seasons 1-7! Holy crap I'm a nerd....

-Nip/Tuck Seasons 1-3

-Harry Potter Gift Box Set movies 1-5 with bookmarks, a disc of special features and trading cards.

-The Joy of Vegan Baking

-Art School Confidential

-Veronica Mars (First Season)

-Socks!

-Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins

And my gifts to my mom were:
Two paintings done by me and framed and an awesome framer in Santa Clarita called Frame Connections... And they come up with amazing frames.

and a salad spinner and mushroom slicer.... I know, I'm weird and practical. She asked for these things, people.

Every year on this day, my mom gets up and makes coffee and breakfast for us. It's always been the same. An omelet, fake bacon, hashbrowns, toast and avocado. This year my mom made a slight change due to my new but not so new outlook on food. She made Scramble Tofu from the book Vegan with a Vengeance, Smart Bacon, cut up Avocado and tomatoes. Soooooooo good.

That's it for now. When I was 16, I started a small 'zine called "Stench Magazine". So I was called Ms. Stench and then it just turned into Jenny Stench. But where I came up with the idea for the name "Stench Magazine" comes from my dad. His name was Kevin Stench. He passed away when I was 5. I never really knew him. But I hear I'm a lot like him. He liked the same music as I do even.
Anyway, on with the story. I made purses for a little while and then bought a button maker when I was 19 or 20. I'm 25 now and I still make buttons, for friends' bands and companies. But I've grown into more things from there. I'm making hand-cast resin jewelry now. Along with rings, magnets, herbal remedies, aprons, and gift bags.
As if you couldn't tell, I like to make things. I've always been this way. I just can't stop. I probably should be working at a craft store.
I'm currently living in Los Angeles, Ca, but I'll be moving to Quincy, MA in about a month.

Other sites to find me on:
Saving Estelle
Laura & Jenny
Myspace
Facebook
Twitter
Flickr
